Overview
How do we make sense of political leadership? What makes a “good” leader? In this unit, you will critique and investigate the patriarchal and hierarchical nature of leadership and its impacts. You will explore the intersections of power, institutions, gender, technology, political culture, and crises. You will also examine how leaders incorporate rhetoric, emotions, and social media to persuade. Ultimately, you will interrogate whether leaders make history or are prisoners of it and why certain leaders become associated with transformative change.
