Synopsis
In this unit you will explore some applied skills necessary for contemporary police practice such as reflective practice, communication, cultural awareness, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, empathy, building an awareness of cognitive bias. Police are required to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to decision-making practices in changing and challenging social environments. Students will investigate the professional and leadership skills that contribute to being an effective police officer. The knowledge and skills gained from this unit will support students in their professional development, effective communication, leadership and professionalism within the police force and the community.
