Health communications management
ATS3967
Synopsis
Applied research in health humanities will give you the opportunity to closely examine the social, political, historical and communicative dimensions of infectious disease and disease control. The unit will include in-depth case studies of particular infectious diseases, which may include: typhoid, HIV and AIDS, malaria, and smallpox. This capstone unit will encourage you to consider the response to infectious disease, and how public health and disease control is enmeshed within broader socio-economic relationships and structures. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of health communication, and have the opportunity to engage with media training. Working collaboratively with your peers, you will design, execute and present your own independent projects to demonstrate your understanding of your chosen research topic in a creative or applied form, aimed at communicating infectious disease information to the public.
