BEX5414

Synopsis

Corporate venturing and innovation in global entrepreneurship ecosystems are capabilities seen by many world-leading firms as critical to their short- and long-term survival and success. This unit will offer you the opportunity to not just learn about internal venturing, but to also be a part of how companies go about constantly evolving and uplifting their capabilities to drive greater performance and relevance, in ever-evolving and globally interconnected markets. You will be joined on this exciting learning journey by real-world experts, who will collaborate with you in guiding and challenging interdisciplinary venture teams to achieve outcomes important for the growth and success of their company. Innovative firms will offer you the opportunity to undertake problem scoping, competitive landscape analysis, competition benchmarking, customer segmentation and engagement, prototyping, testing and validation of solutions, along with building business cases and internal support for developed courses of action.

The unit requires you to learn-practice-reflect, with much of the work being done outside of class engaging with real-world businesses and their customers. You will learn how to be part of and be accountable for the actions of a high-performing, multidisciplinary team; doing so under the guidance of both your faculty team and highly experienced practitioners in their respective companies. The projects you will work on will actually mean something to a business and position you as someone capable of making a difference. On completion of this unit, you will be far more confident of your ability to be an innovator in an existing business who is capable of working effectively with others to create new futures for companies that understand the need to constantly be challenging business as usual. Your transformation and development will not be assessed by exams or essays, instead, you will be evaluated based on your contributions to delivering outcomes agreed upon with your industry partner in pursuit of achieving the learning outcomes for the unit.
