Economic research project 1

BEX5481

Synopsis

Participation in this unit will help you to select a preferred topic to conduct original research, proceed with the research project through communication and interaction with your supervisors and colleagues, and extend the breadth of economics knowledge beyond your specialisation area. You will be developing the skills to analyse peer research, provide constructive feedback critically, and present your research outcome progressively.

The Department of Economics runs several seminar series and workshops. The invited speakers are mostly leading scholars in their research fields, and the presented papers are focused on the frontiers of economics. You will be required to follow a seminar series in the semester most relevant to your research dissertation. You will select your research project closely related to the presented papers on which you will write your first original research paper. You are also required to select one paper from seminars and write a referee report. The reviewer report will be included in the assessment.
