Overview
This is a practicum unit underpinned by experiential learning that may take a number of forms including a consulting project, a fellowship, a placement, and a research project among others. You will undertake, either individually or as part of a group, a practicum project defined by a host organisation in consultation with the academic unit leader. The host organisations can be based either domestically or internationally and will be sourced from a diverse range of industries and sectors, including government departments, private industry and not-for-profit organisations. This practicum unit may be based on an affiliated arrangement where the project is carried out in association with the organisation and physical location at the organisation is not required.
You are required to satisfy a series of academic requirements that maximise your learning experience. These requirements are set by the host organisation with the aim of providing exposure to the skills relevant to their area of business, along with gaining increased insight into the host organisation's activities. You will communicate your project’s findings to the host organisation in the format (e.g. report, presentation) specified by the host organisation in consultation with the academic unit leader. This practical unit will provide the opportunity for you to engage in real-world business situations, and with real-world organisations. This will, in turn, develop your ability to engage and communicate clearly and effectively as is fit for purpose with the intended audience.
