Overview

Topics include an overview of the financial system, with specific focus on the roles and activities of various financial markets (equity, debt, foreign exchange, derivatives) and financial institutions (banks, non-banks, insurance and superannuation, investment banking and venture capital). Key financial instruments will be examined by comparing and contrasting their various characteristics. The role of regulators and the need for regulation of the financial system will also be examined. The final topic will explore future trends in finance.
