Synopsis
Financial technology (FinTech) emerges as a label for technology-enabled business model in the financial sector. This business model disrupts existing industry structures, blurs industry boundaries, facilitates strategic disintermediation, revolutionises the delivery of products and services, creates significant privacy, provides new gateways for entrepreneurship, and seeds opportunities for inclusive growth.
Given the central role that technology plays in FinTech business, this unit focuses on the implementation of technology in the various FinTech businesses including, but not limited to; blockchains & cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence, credit scoring and advisory services. Industry partners will be involved in the delivery of this unit to demonstrate the implementation of technology in FinTech businesses using real-world data and relevant software. The unit will develop your analytical skills and appreciation of the disruptions that FinTech businesses bring to the financial sector through programming exercises.
