The globalisation of law and development in Asia
BTF5160
Synopsis
The unit introduces you to the interaction between global regulation and business practices in Asia. Using a series of cases studies, it examines how global business regulations are adopted and reinterpreted by key Asian regulators and businesses in selected Asian countries (China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam). In particular, it will explore the domestic constraints on global regulation and examine how businesses interpret and comply with business regulation. The unit will pay particular attention to non-state modes of regulation, such as supply chains and to the role market professionals such as lawyers play in securing business compliance.
