- 1
Demonstrate the ability to identify plant species of agricultural importance;
- 2
Demonstrate good understanding of the principles involved in crop production and methods for crop improvement;
- 3
Apply specialised knowledge on important factors affecting crop growth and yield to achieve sustainable production of important tropical crops;
- 4
Analyse, interpret and present scientific data effectively.
Workload and teaching
- Laboratories30 hours
- Teaching approachOnline learning
- Teaching approachProblem-based learning
- Three hours of lectures for twelve weeks
- Three hours laboratory practical for eight weeks and
- Seven hours of independent study per week
The online learning is applied for the lecture sessions. Recorded lectures are available on Moodle. Additionally, learning resources (reading materials, lab manual, past year exam papers), and instructions to assessments (instructions, marking scheme, examples/templates, submission folder),
The experiments for the laboratory sessions are designed as problem-based learning modules. Each experiment has theories to prove, problems to address, and students are to perform the experiments and collect the data to be able to understand and provide solutions to the problems/questions.
