Overview

This unit will expand your existing 3D design skills, and enable you to further develop your skills in creating digital experiences in the form of 3D interactive visualisations. You will explore the creative approaches for 3D experience design through a series of practical introductory modules and hands-on exercises in a studio environment. You will be exposed to key concepts in 3D visualisations, design principles for human-computer interactions, the fundamentals of interactive prototyping, as well as best practices of preparing digital assets for real-time interaction. You will also be encouraged to adapt emerging technologies and develop problem-solving skills in real-time visualisation design.

Learning outcomes

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Apply practical contemporary processes in 3D modelling to prepare digital assets suitable for real-time interactive visualisation;

    Produce digital works at the intersection of real-time rendering and experience design using industry-standard 3D packages;

    Understand 3D transformations, physically-based texturing, lighting, and digital photography in real-time rendering contexts

    Design engaging and user-friendly digital experiences for 3D environments with intuitive navigation modes;

  5. 5

    Efficiently plan and execute short digital experiences with scope for creative direction;
