Overview
This unit introduces the concept of sustainable development in engineering, involving environmental, economic and social considerations in the planning, development of a new product and implementation of a new or existing process.
This unit also ventures into systematic approaches to design sustainable processes and products by conducting lifecycle assessment, risk assessments and cost analysis. These themes will be developed in lectures, problem-based sessions and supported by an individual project work related to selected industrial processes or products.
