Waste management and biomass transformation
CHE6805
Synopsis
Waste management is of vital importance in every country. This unit examines the engineering and scientific principles of effluent and solid waste management, which can be applied in a palm oil industry, starting from an oil palm plantation to an oleochemical plant. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the structure of the waste management hierarchy, which is currently applied in the palm oil industry, ranging from waste avoidance, waste minimization, recycling, reuse and finally treatment of wastes. Additionally, this new unit provides knowledge and skills on the most advanced and innovative processing of oil palm biomass as well as the process development elements for the production of biofuels and bio-products.
