Workload and teaching

  • Practical activities24 hours
  • Lectures12 hours
  • Teaching approachProblem-based learning
  • Teaching approachActive learning

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.

This unit is delivered in a flipped-learning mode, in which content is delivered prior to the lecture using videos, and a unit textbook. The lecture is an active session in which the learning for the week is applied to different aspects of project management, and this forms the basis for the groupwork project throughout the semester. The group project aims to provide an environment in which students can gain an appreciation of how the topics covered in lectures may be applied to a realistic project management task.
