Synopsis

This unit introduces basic principles, methods, techniques and applications of GIS and remote sensing. It covers basics of GIS and remote sensing, spatial data collection and management, spatial data manipulation, spatial data analysis and modelling, remote sensing image processing and interpretation and spatial data visualisation. Case studies and hands-on practice allow you to gain experience in the use of GIS and remote sensing technologies. It equips you with fundamental knowledge and skills in constructing, collecting, managing, analysing, integrating and communicating spatial data and information, which are essential for scientific investigations in environmental science, earth science, geography and other scientific studies that have a spatial dimension.
