Synopsis
The study of air motion in the Earth’s atmosphere that is associated with weather and climate in the midlatitudes and tropics. Topics to be studied include: the equation of motion; scale analysis and balanced flows; structure and stability of the atmosphere; circulation and vorticity; waves; the dynamics of midlatitude and tropical weather systems.
