Synopsis
The unit aims to provide you with a work-integrated learning experience that simulates an exploration program for mineral commodities. The unit will be taught as a group project, and you will be working in teams of 3 to 4 within your own level. The project will require identification of a target commodity based geological and geophysical information, justification of the target selection including a literature review, acquisition and synthesis of the appropriate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data, interpretation of the data, developing of an exploration targeting strategy, and an economic analysis of the program. Projects will be designed to prepare you for comparable experiences in the workplace. You will develop skills in data synthesis and analysis, geological interpretation, critical and lateral thinking using diverse geoscientific data.
