Synopsis
This unit introduces you to topics and concepts that are of relevance in the context of economic development. The focus of this unit is on applying tools of economics in analysing important issues in development. The emphasis in the lectures will be on the methodology that one adopts to study key issues in the area of development. The approach will be both analytical and empirical with equal emphasis on both. A project that will be an important part of the assessment in the unit is designed to allow you to go into a chosen topic in greater depth than can be covered in the lectures or, in some cases, not covered at all.
