Overview
This unit will provide a foundation in mathematics and provide you with skills to support your future university studies. Topics covered include linear modelling, graphs of curves, financial mathematics, univariate and bivariate data, probability, matrices, and sequences and series. You will be supported to develop core concepts and skills, and to apply these to solve problems.

Select and apply appropriate procedures for the solution of probability problems, including recognition of dependent and independent events

Calculate operation on matrices, including by-hand calculations involving identity and inverse matrices

Generate an arithmetic or geometric sequence or series using a recurrence relation, and solve problems in practical contexts.
