Childhoods in a changing world
EDF2059
Synopsis
This unit introduces you to theoretical perspectives that could contribute towards a reconfiguration of childhoods and offer imaginary possibilities for you to rethink what it means for children to be earth dwellers who are always intra-acting with everything in their worlds. You will engage with research to explore a range of issues in relation to contemporary global and local childhoods. This includes foci on gender, environmental and more-than-human perspectives to broaden understandings of challenges and possibilities facing children as citizens in a rapidly changing world. You will be encouraged to think creatively, ethically and critically about your responsibilities and sensitivities as teachers who make informed judgements and decisions that affect children’s childhoods, and children’s agency as global citizens.
