Overview
This unit will explore current research, concepts and practices associated with teacher and student
wellbeing. These will include notions of health multidimensionality and cultural wellbeing; personal factors
such as perception, resilience and distress; enabling practices of relationships, positive learning
environments, and mindfulness and professional communities of practice. You will build knowledge and
gain experience in critiquing relationships between education and wellbeing, designing strategies to
enhance your own wellbeing as well as that of your students, and develop confidence and competence in
applying some of these strategies.

Workload and teaching

You can expect to undertake a minimum total workload of 144 hours per teaching period which may include:
- on average 24 contact hours of scheduled activities which may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement; and
- 120 hours of self-directed/independent study to make up the minimum required hours
