Overview
This unit critically examines trends in education policy across local, regional, national and global scales. You will engage with concepts of neoliberalism and globalisation in education policy and investigate how policy influences early years education through a range of perspectives. You will develop an understanding of national and regional policy relevant to early years education and research the implications of global and national policy for your work as professional educators and leaders in your field.

Critically analyse the effects of local, regional, national and global education policy in early years contexts

Develop a critical understanding of policy, and design early years policy documents at service level.

You can expect to undertake a minimum total workload of 144 hours per teaching period which may include:
(a.) Contact hours for on-campus students:
- on average 24 contact hours of scheduled activities which may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement
(b.) Requirements for offshore Kaplan-based students:
- one intensive block (usually from Thursday to Sunday)
- at least 4 hours of online study per term
(c.) Additional requirements (all students):
- self-directed/independent study to make up the minimum required hours
