Overview
This unit has been designed to be taken in conjunction with your final professional experience placement.
This unit prepares you for your transition into professional practice as teachers and invites you to develop a deep and actionable understanding of your current and future role as a teacher. Drawing on a range of research evidence and the knowledge, skills and professional experiences developed during your course, you will complete a teaching performance assessment (TPA) in which you will plan, teach, assess and reflect and represent this work in an online platform. You will analyse a range of evidence and critically reflect on your performance. You will depict your progress against Graduate Teacher Standards and graduate attributes you have developed that enable you to be classroom ready.

You can expect to undertake a minimum total workload of 144 hours per teaching period which may include:
- on average 24 contact hours of scheduled activities which may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement; and
- 120 hours of self-directed/independent study to make up the minimum required hours

This unit has been designed to be taken in conjunction with the final professional experience placement and includes a range of teaching activities to prepare you to transition into professional practice. There will be pre-class activities, including readings, enquiry based learning and active learning through considered scenarios.
Scheduled classes will be delivered face to face, recorded and available via Live streaming. Hands-on experiential learning opportunities, encouraging students to critique and evaluate innovative curriculum ideas, assessment methods and reporting technologies, are also a feature of this unit. The experiential learning activities include multi-variable group discussions, practical exercises, website referencing and analyses, video presentations and discussion of readings that complement the oral and electronic delivery of further content as required. Self-study is facilitated by online resources and reading lists.
All modes of pedagogical activities are interactive and inclusive, acknowledging and valuing students’ differential and evolving professional experience, knowledge, skills and attitudes.
