Prerequisite: Successful completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited major sequence in psychology.

Corequisite: Enrolment in 3242, 3243, D5002

Overview

This unit examines the relationship between psychological interventions and development across the lifespan. This unit focuses on exploring stages of development and interventions to improve wellbeing from infancy to older adulthood. The focus of this unit is on varied psychosocial concerns, developmental changes and psychological interventions spanning a broad spectrum of issues within the field of psychology. Topics may include relationships, parenting, learning, culture, social and emotional factors.

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per teaching period comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study.

Usually, you can expect to engage with:

• 24 hours of scheduled learning delivered on campus via weekly/regular directed learning activities; and
• the remaining hours to be allocated towards self-directed/independent study

Scheduled learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.

This unit uses a mixture of directed classes and student led discussions to explore interventions and research from infancy to older adulthood. The format is designed to replicate the experience of attending a research symposium.
