Overview

This unit builds upon and extends content knowledge and pedagogical skills studied in previous units by preparing you to teach school health education in the senior years. It provides you with essential skills and knowledge to critically engage with historical, philosophical, political and pedagogical debates and issues in school health education. Through an examination of national and international health curriculum policies and relevant research literature, you will critically analyse how policy imperatives shape both contemporary curriculum and pedagogical priorities in health education. Drawing on literature and research studies you will critically explore how curriculum and pedagogical imperatives are enacted in diverse educational and professional contexts. Working collaboratively and independently, you will review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise your knowledge and skills as you work towards advancing your capacities in this field.
