Synopsis
This unit builds on EDF5121 Humanities: Accounting in secondary years A , enabling you to continue to build a strong foundation for your career-long professional learning as a secondary school teacher of accounting and related commerce studies. You will further your understanding of key theoretical and pedagogical perspectives and issues in the teaching of accounting and related curriculum. You will acquire knowledge and understanding of the nature and purpose of assessment, designing assessments that are purposeful and relevant to the accounting teaching and learning program and the learning needs of students. Through an examination of a range of curricula drawn from state, national and international contexts, you will be further familiarised with current developments in the theory, research and practice of accounting education. You will work independently, collaboratively and interdependently to develop your capabilities in planning and implementing appropriate curriculum and pedagogy. You will design a teaching and learning plan suitable for teaching post-compulsory accounting content. The unit reinforces a view of learning about teaching as an ongoing, collaborative process that is developed through critical reflection on experience.
