Synopsis
This unit builds on your learning in EDF5129 Drama, movement and theatre studies in secondary years A, addressing the theory and practice of secondary school drama education. You will refine your cognitive understandings and develop your pedagogical skills as professional drama educators so you are able to meet the needs of diverse learners. Working collaboratively and exercising intellectual independence, you will critically engage with a range of theoretical, philosophical and pragmatic perspectives on drama education, including local and national curriculums. You will explore a range of national and international research in the area of drama education, and you are invited to conduct your own independent research in order to develop your scholarship and professionalism as a drama educator and to enable you to continue to build and communicate your developing expertise in a variety of educational settings.
