EDF5176

Synopsis

This unit builds on EDF5175 Science: Psychology in secondary years A as it continues to explore the learning and teaching of psychology in secondary schools. It enables you to continue to develop your professional knowledge to teach psychology, offering a strong foundation for you to become an innovative and purposeful curriculum-maker. It extends your ability to plan, enact and adjust as appropriate a range of teaching and learning strategies to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners in a variety of settings and curricula contexts. It encourages you to engage with contemporary ideas and research literature and consider the philosophy that underpins your teaching. It continues to encourage you to consider the purpose of teaching psychology in schools and psychology's place within secondary schools and focuses more on critiquing Australian and international curricula, proposing curricula in response to societal issues, and innovative technologies this semester. You will develop an appreciation of how working in collaborative teams, and regularly engaging in critical conversations about teaching and learning, psychology experiences and research literature, are an essential part of the professional work of a teacher of psychology.
