Overview

This is part 2 of a two-unit sequence of research study in the field of educational and developmental psychology. Based on the scientist-practitioner model, the practice of psychology is evidence-based. It requires competence in the critical analysis of research literature and knowledge of appropriate research methodologies. This unit focuses on the integration of knowledge and skills associated with research methodologies relevant to the study and practice of educational and developmental psychology and culminates in the submission of a research project. You will conduct the research articulated in the research plan in EDF5724 Research in educational and developmental psychology thesis part 1. The research is conducted under the guidance of an academic supervisor and must be relevant to the area of educational and developmental psychology. In Research in Educational and Developmental Psychology thesis part 2, you will critically review the research literature related to your topic, collect data, examine your research questions, report your methodology and results, give full consideration to the ethical issues, and discuss your findings within the context of the theoretical and empirical literature.
