Synopsis
In this unit you will develop the technological, pedagogical, contextual and curriculum knowledge required to teach effectively using technology, particularly in primary schools. This includes the Technologies Learning Area of the Victorian Curriculum, the F-10 Australian Curriculum Digital Literacy General Capability, hands on activities designed to improve your skills and use of technology, and unpacking what it means to be digitally competent. The contextual factors that influence the use of technologies in education (for example: safe, responsible and ethical use; access and equity; practical implementation issues) will be explored. You will engage with the contemporary issues and debates surrounding the use of technology in education and think critically about the pedagogical value of technologies and the barriers to integration in schools. Through the hands-on tutorial activities, you will develop confidence with a range of ICT resources that engage students in their learning.
