Moral and ethical childhoods
EDF5843
Synopsis
This unit will enable you to critically reflect, analyse and challenge your own philosophy, ethics and practice when gaining insight to educationally care with children and families. You will research, analyse and critique different theories and understandings of children’s social and emotional, moral and ethical development that fosters their health, wellbeing and safety. Thereby, you will be able to acknowledge children as complex moral and ethical global beings connected to diverse communities, incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Moreover, you will be able to provide opportunities for educators and children to challenge their own moral and ethical underpinnings and decision-making as citizens of a global world that embraces cultural diversity and inclusion.
