EDF5847 Quality early childhood leadership and management

This unit focuses on educational leadership through team building for high-quality teaching and learning programs, and organisational leadership for management and administration as defined in Early Childhood policy. You will critically analyse traditional and contemporary leadership approaches and apply this knowledge to develop effective visions and lead teams through change for quality improvement initiatives.

Specific attention is given to conceptualising policy actors, debates and newly emerging discourses in policy documents of children and childhoods within an ethical global context. You will develop an understanding of how policies shape and influence the lives of children and families, workplace initiatives, team collaborations, and leadership roles in projects of progression, innovation, and advocacy.

You will research Effective Leadership approaches for understanding educational leadership for professional teamwork partnerships and high-quality educational services. This will include knowledge of leadership within the context of early childhood contemporary policy, current research and recommendations, as well as engagement with policy making processes within local and global contexts. You will critically examine early childhood policies, ethical conduct, regulations, the National Quality Standards and professional standards to develop and examine your emerging identity as an educational leader to support quality improvement in early childhood.
