Synopsis

In this unit you will firstly explore the role and importance of school, family and community partnerships in supporting student learning and wellbeing. Attention is also paid to the role of partnerships with professional organisations in enhancing teachers’ professional knowledge, practice and wellbeing. In the latter half of the unit the focus will shift to whole-school approaches to student health, wellbeing and safety. You will explore and develop different approaches to understanding and supporting student health, wellbeing and safety, whilst simultaneously achieving school, curriculum and legislative requirements. The role of teachers working in partnership with others as part of whole-school responses to, for example, bullying, youth suicide, gender issues and trauma will be explored.
