Mastering multidisciplinary teaching: Integrating the curriculum
EDF5876
Synopsis
This unit prepares you for the teaching of Health and Physical Education (HPE), The Arts and Digital Technologies within contemporary teaching practice. You will engage in intensive, workshop-based learning that equips you with the knowledge, pedagogical skills, and critical reflective practices necessary to teach these areas effectively.
Over seven intensive weeks, you will participate in structured modules that progressively build your understanding of curriculum frameworks, lesson planning, and instructional strategies. Each two-week module focuses on a key learning area, with opportunities to critically engage with teaching practices, explore resources, and apply theory in micro-teaching sessions. By the final module, you will demonstrate your ability to integrate multiple disciplines in a cohesive and engaging teaching experience.
A key feature of this unit is its interactive and practice-based approach. You will design and deliver micro-teaching sessions, receiving both peer and expert feedback both in class and on the LMS. This iterative process allows you to refine your teaching techniques while engaging in reflective and formative assessment.
This unit is integral to the Master of Teaching program, ensuring you develop a well-rounded approach to interdisciplinary teaching. It prepares you to meet curriculum requirements across key curriculum areas while fostering innovative and student-centred pedagogies. By the end of the unit, you will have gained practical experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating integrated lessons that respond to the diverse needs of learners.
