Hydrology and climate change

ENE2268

Synopsis

Water is one of the most valuable resources on the planet. However, the availability of safe and secure water supplies is under threat from climate change. In this unit, you will learn the key ways in which climate change threatens water security, for both human and environmental uses. You will learn how to assess the impacts of climate change on water security (both quantity and quality of water), and predict future water availability and water quality – using techniques such as mass balances, rainfall-runoff models and concentration-discharge curves. You will also learn about other threats to water security – such as human activities, and how we manage these threats into the future, to ensure safe and secure water supplies for all.
