Overview
You will undertake a self-guided learning task in the form of a project in this unit. Projects will consist of either a design, theoretical or experimental investigation in the broad area of engineering. The project may be undertaken within the School or externally with a company or research organization. This is the first part of a two-unit project.

Conduct an extensive review of relevant scientific literature and critically analyse its relevance to their project work.

Apply the scientific method to design a research project.

Design the research project with a focus on the management of technical difficulties, budget, risks and time constraints.

Execute an independent research project following the scientific method in the relevant specialisation area.

Evaluate preliminary results of the research and justify their implications to a professional audience.
