Prohibition: This unit is only available to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters of Biostatistics.
Overview
You will study the application of statistical methods to analyse and interpret modern ‘omics, with emphasis on sequencing-based data. The unit will cover topics that include genome-wide association studies (GWAS), epigenetics association studies (EWAS), and bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing studies. With each topic, you will learn how these modern ‘omics data can be used to improve our understanding of biological mechanisms in health and disease, leading to better disease risk prediction and prognostic models.
