Synopsis

This unit involves a critical review of recent empirical work and techniques in modern macroeconometrics. The topics to be covered include: i) the techniques used to estimate causal effects for use in policy-making, and applying these in a range of contexts; ii) structural vector autoregressions; iii) practical applications of these topics that address macroeconomic issues. On completion of this unit, you should be familiar with recent developments in these fields, and have developed the skills to undertake empirical work. Further, you should be able to critically evaluate empirical work and related policy implications.
