Overview

Over the past few years, the world has seen disruptive ideas spearheaded by entrepreneurs and the startups that they lead. Often, these startups are backed by strong technological advancements that power rapid growth, giving birth to the term technopreneurship. This unit aims to empower students with the essential knowledge, skills, and tools to bring a technology idea to a venture-backable startup. This includes topics such as (1) team, (2) vision; (3) problem; (4) market; (5) solution; (6) business model; (7) go-to-market; (8) competitors; (9) traction/ metrics; and (10) investment ask.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Describe what startups are, using the concepts of innovation, entrepreneurship and technopreneurship.

    Evaluate and differentiate between ideas, ideas that can be businesses and business ideas that can be startups.

    Understand the roles and responsibilities of a startup founding team.

    Demonstrate research process for market research, idea validation, value proposition and scale to large with appropriate metrics.
