Enrolment rules
- Permission required.
- Prerequisite: Available to students in all undergraduate degrees of the Faculty of IT who have been accepted into the Work professional placement program with at least 72 credit points including 60 FIT or MAT credit points.
- Additional prerequisite unit for C2001 BCompSc and C2000 BInfoTech students: FIT1049 or equivalent.

Overview
Students engage in an industry placement of 288 hours with a Monash sourced industry partner (current IT or Monash Partner) or a self-sourced placement arranged by the student. Self-sourced placements will require a defined application and approval process.
Students on placement apply the knowledge, skills and practices developed in their academic studies and, with the guidance of mentors and colleagues, build further IT expertise and professional awareness. Throughout the placement, students reflect on their experiences to optimise their professional development

Students on placement are deployed full-time (36 hours per week) for 12 weeks with the industry partners of the Faculty of IT work professional placement program in a role within the company.
