Overview
You will be introduced to the theoretical material relating to injuries generally, their forensic classification and assessment. The particular issue of assessing deaths in custody and from torture are addressed.
The practical aspects of the assessment of injuries is the focus of work in the mortuary, along with learning special dissections.
These include exposure of the spinal cord, vertebral arteries, examination of the facial skeleton and the subcutaneous tissues of the body.
Finally, the principles of photography in relation to autopsy, both theoretical and practical, are presented.

Workload and teaching
