Workload and teaching

  • Teaching approachIndustry-based learning

288 hours for 12 credit points over one semester.

In accordance with the University’s Course Structure Policy, a 12‑credit‑point unit requires you to spend approximately 24 hours per week engaged in learning activities. Over a standard 12‑week semester, this equates to a total expected workload of 288 hours.

As this is a project‑focused unit, the pattern of weekly activity will vary depending on the stage and nature of the project. Across the semester, you are expected to engage in a combination of independent industry‑project activities, regular meetings with your supervisor(s) and industry partner, and required training, as well as private study, including background research, data analysis, and the preparation of project deliverables and reports.

While the distribution of hours may fluctuate from week to week, you should ensure that your overall commitment averages 24 hours per week to meet unit learning outcomes and project milestones.

This unit will involve either an internship or a project with strong industry relevance, providing you with the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a professional setting.
