Synopsis
This unit introduces you to key principles of, and planning for, health promotion. You will examine health promotion frameworks and theories that are used to promote health at a population level to compliment and contrast individual treatment. You will examine the values and principles that guide contemporary health promotion and its capacity to influence the determinants of health.
You will also develop skills in needs assessment, priority setting, using evidence and theory to make intervention choices and program evaluation. The roles played by partnerships, capacity building and participation will be explored, and the steps toward improving program sustainability are examined.
