Overview
This unit offers a project-based approach to deeper learning in industrial design. Through hands-on engagement with industrial design studio projects, you will have the opportunity to apply and extend your current knowledge while adopting relevant theory and skills to develop both formal and innovative design processes. These projects will encourage the use of a combination of creative and analytical problem-solving techniques to reach design solutions, which will be communicated through a range of suitable media including prototypes and models.
The projects offered in this unit will regularly change to reflect contemporary design trends and industry needs. They may include opportunities to explore design for Open Innovation and licensing, co-design for social and ecological impact, or the prototyping of assistive technologies for diverse user groups. By participating in these projects, you will develop essential design skills while gaining insight into the real-world application of industrial design principles.
