Overview
This unit builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in Sustainable mobility design 1, transitioning from two-dimensional design representations to the creation of scaled three-dimensional models. You will explore industrial design techniques and processes that address human mobility needs in a sustainable manner. This requires you to engage with form creation and aspects of making that you may not have been exposed to before, which is integral to the development of model-building skills. These skills enable you to accurately construct scale models from your original design concepts. You will learn to detail design solutions effectively, using appropriate methods and materials to progress from 2D sketches to comprehensive scaled 3D iterations.

Learning outcomes
When you finish this unit, you should be able to:
- 1
Critically evaluate industrial design techniques and processes to innovatively address human mobility needs in an environmentally sustainable manner;
- 2
Accurately prepare and build a scale model(s) from a design concept of your own creation;
- 3
Detail design solutions effectively using appropriate methods and materials, progressing from two-dimensional representations to scaled three-dimensional iterations;
- 4
Critically evaluate mobility design problems from an energy, spatial and interactive perspective;
- 5
Demonstrate in model form how to mitigate design problems from a spatial and interactive perspective;
- 6
Engage with sustainable materials, construction techniques, and engineering advancements to create 3D models that consider the socio-cultural and design aspects associated with mobility industries.
