Synopsis
This unit focuses on the law concerning children, at a domestic, regional, and international level. It will provide an in-depth analysis of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, its strengths and weaknesses, and the challenges for the full realisation of children’s rights in the 21st Century. In doing so, it will explore the exercise (and limits) of child autonomy and decision-making, as well as the relationship between children, parents, and the state.
