Overview
Case studies and live examples used in this unit, including for the assessment pieces, will include
international content. The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to optimal use of legal project management to
enhance their employment prospects in the current legal services market, and indeed also to wider industry
opportunities. Legal Project Management provides a framework to operationalise innovation in legal practice.
Students work in project management groups in a legal setting and communicate effectively to team
members, project stakeholders and sponsors

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

Employ key legal project management concepts to compose project management tools such as a Project Proposal and Project Plan.

Identify and describe how legal departments and law firms are implementing Legal Project Management.

Distinguish and practice key skills in stakeholder management, scoping of work, team management, project plans and budgets, scope changes and end-of-matter debriefs.

Critically evaluate project effectiveness and engage in meaningful reflective practice of project outcomes.
Workload and teaching
Students enrolled in this unit will be provided with 24 (post grad) or 36 (undergrad) contact hours of
workshop, whether intensive, semi-intensive, or semester-long offering. Students will be expected to do
reading set for class, and to undertake additional research and reading applicable to a 6-credit point unit.
