Synopsis
This unit is designed to assist your understanding of, and engagement with advanced practice. Advanced practice is not simply a title or role. It is a source of advice, support and guidance within the workplace. Advanced practitioners influence patients, colleagues and especially junior practitioners to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
The advanced practitioner’s mindset is cultivated through a focus on evidence-based practice, peer review, adaptive communication and leadership development.
In this unit you will;
- gain insight into other health professions and their issues with respect to practice
- share evidence-based ideas and learn to adapt your communication to various audiences
- network and have open discussion with peers and leaders from a variety of disciplines
- complete assessments that require you to:
- identify professional issues and communicate actions
- make provision for context and plan strategies
- identify and mitigate risks
- apply leadership principles
- use reflection as a strategic planning and quality improvement tool
