Students wanting to take the Collaborative Design specialisation need to complete either MDC4110 (Interaction Design Studio 1) or MDC4120 (Multimedia Design Studio 1) first, and then progress to MDC5230 (Collaborative Design Studio 2) and MDC5330 (Collaborative Design Studio 3)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of MDC4110 (Interaction Design Studio 1) or MDC4120 (Multimedia Design Studio 1) or MDC4130 (Collaborative Design Studio 1)
Overview
This unit further develops your design skills within a collaborative environment. You will engage in projects of growing complexity that have multiple approaches and potential outcomes. You will build upon your prior experience of the design process to discover, define, create and demonstrate your design ability in a interdisciplinary way. You will develop designs to a stage that allows reflective critical analysis. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong capability to resolve and defend your designs. You will be encouraged to engage with topics that are drawn from the research agenda of the Faculty and Department of Design. This enables the integration of staff research with the educational aspirations of the unit. You are therefore exposed to an advanced knowledge in particular areas, and areas in which to engage your own growing skill sets.
