Energy management and audit

MEC5806

Synopsis

Energy plays a key role in the development and growth of the economy, and you'll be part of shaping that future. Energy efficiency is a growing industry in Malaysia and beyond, with increasing awareness across residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors. As this awareness expands, so will the demand for energy management and audit expertise.

This unit is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to become a professional in energy management. It is tailored to meet both regulatory and practical requirements for energy managers in Malaysia, in line with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) and other key national energy policies.

You’ll learn how to conduct energy audits - a systematic assessment of baseline energy consumption within a facility - followed by identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs. Depending on the type of premises, processes, and equipment involved, an audit may cover both electrical and thermal energy systems.

In this unit, you’ll explore:

  • Energy audits and implementation of effective energy-saving measures.
  • Development, monitoring, and optimisation of energy management systems (EnMS).
  • Financial analysis and return-on-investment (ROI) calculations for energy efficiency projects.
  • Comprehensive thermal energy audits.
  • Assessment of an organisation’s overall energy consumption and audit processes.

By the end of this unit, you’ll be prepared to take on the challenges and opportunities in the growing field of energy efficiency and management.
